AREHF Academy Awards

This award ceremony has been created by the African Real Estate and Housing Finance (AREHF) Academy, a leading resource center for the development of real estate and housing finance in the African region.

The awards event is designed to appreciate those who have put in reasonable and measurable efforts in boosting the real estate and housing finance market in the African region. With these awards, we want to expose the entire world to the huge potential of this sub-sector in Africa. It is also an opportunity to recognize and showcase these same people/organizations who have concluded significant real estate and housing deals.

This can serve as a motivation and stimulant to other organizations in the region and outside the region to commit to the development of the industry.

While there will be an Advisory Board for the awards, the industry itself will nominate and vote for the recipient in the different awards categories. The award is aiming to be the most prestigious in the subsector in the region.

The deadline for nominations is March 17th, 2012. Anybody within and outside the region is able to send in nominations. All nominations will be considered and selected by the Awards Advisory Board and the finalists will be subjected to industry vote in the region. Nominations will be for achievements done between January 1st 2008 and December 30th, 2011. For the finalists that will be voted for, the Advisory Board will be looking for execution of exceptional transactions and projects that have made huge contributions to the social, economic and developmental wellbeing of the peoples and countries in the region. Voting will be from March 19 - 28, 2012. Results will be collated by March 29 – 30, 2012 ahead of the awards night.

The two days of events will be as follows:

Day 1: Arrival and Registration of Participants and Delegates

Formal welcoming of all stakeholders, invitees and guests as well as Networking Sessions which will include B2B meetings and cocktail.

Day 2: Conference on the State of Africa’s Real Estate & Housing Finance sector and Awards Ceremony

This will be an overview of the supply and demand side conditions of real estate in Africa. This will cover residential, industrial, commercial and hospitality sub-sector. The macroeconomic conditions and environment that can bolster the sector will be discussed. This will be in addition to showcasing innovative solutions and transaction structure that has been used for overcoming the regulatory and legal impediments in the region. This will occur between 8:30am - 3:30pm.

The AREHF Academy Awards will be from 6pm – 12am. There will be a total of 15 categories for the awards spanning across commercial, industrial, residential and hospitality sub-sectors. The votes will be conducted and counted by a professional services/auditing firm ahead of the award night.
